  • Cement fly ash gravel (CFG) pile composite foundation is an effective and economic foundation treatment approach, which is significant to building foundation, subgrade construction, and so forth. The present paper aims at investigating the settlement behaviors of saturated tailings dam soft ground under CFG pile composite foundation treatment, in which FEM and laboratory model test were utilized. The proposed findings demonstrate that CFG pile treatment is effective in reinforcing saturated tailings dam and loading has little influence on settlement of soil between piles. The variation of s

Study on Impact Resistance of Polymer Modified Steel Fiber Reinforced Recycled Aggregate Concrete

  • The utilization of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) from construction and demolition waste (CDW) is a sustainable solution to protect the fragile natural environment and save the diminishing natural resources. The current study was aimed at exploring the impact resistance and mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) affected by hooked-end steel fiber (HF) and crimped steel fiber (CF). Fifteen concrete mixtures considering different RCA substitution ratio, steel fiber dosage, and steel fiber shapes were designed. Meanwhile, a statistical analysis method-based Weibull distrib

Experimental Study on Seismic Performance of Precast Double Column Piers

  • Earthquakes worldwide highlight the seismic vulnerability of reinforced concrete (RC) bridge columns. RC bridges are likely to collapse or lose service function due to damage to the bridge columns from strong earthquakes. Rapid repair of RC bridge columns is of great significance for maintaining traffic lines for emergency rescue work after earthquakes. In this study, an improved rapid repair method was developed to restore the bearing capacity of a damaged precast column after earthquake damage. A cyclic loading test was performed to simulate the seismic loading. The original column and th

Finite Element Analysis of Compress-flexure-torsion Mechanical Behavior of L-shaped Column Composed of Recycled Aggregate Concrete-filled Square Steel Tubes

  • Paper ID- JSJU-06-08-2023-10155
  • Shenyang Jianzhu Daxue Xuebao (Ziran Kexue Ban)/Journal of Shenyang Jianzhu University (Natural Science)
  • Special T-shaped composite columns with concrete-filled square steel tubulars have good restraint on internal concrete, are convenient to process, have a high bearing capacity and good mechanical properties, and can increase the aesthetics of the building and the utilization rate of indoor space. Theoretical analysis, experimental study, and numerical simulation of the eccentric compression performance of the special-shaped column are carried out. Taking the specimen length, eccentric distance, and eccentric direction as test parameters, nine specimens with different slenderness ratios were

Impacts of Human Walking on the Airflow Field in the Kitchen Using Dynamic Mesh Model

  • A Chinese commercial kitchen fume exhaust (CCKEF) system mainly consists of a wallmounted canopy hood, air duct and terminal electrostatic purifiers, the capture and purification performance of which should be guaranteed to obtain satisfactory indoor and outdoor air environment in engineering applications. However, few studies have focused on the operation performance of CCKEF systems. This study was aimed at providing a simulation method to investigate the operation performance of such systems. The simulation model of a representative CCKEF system was established using CFD software and val
